Kent, the Garden of England
Kent known as The Garden of England is situated in the south east of England and is the closest point to mainland Europe
which makes it a perfect base for visitors travelling to and from the Continent.
Ashford is a market town with a mix of historic buildings; some dating from Medieval and Georgian times. It is perfectly placed for Ashford’s
International Eurostar Station and the new high speed rail link.
Dover overlooks the English Channel and is the UK's nearest European neighbour to France. It is a busy port with a ferry service and popular with
visitors enjoying a day trip Dover to Calais. The famous white cliffs can be seen by those arriving and departing this popular port.
Tenterden has an attractive high street with Georgian buildings, quaint cottages and Victorian houses set amongst tree lined greens. There are
many tearooms, pubs and restaurants where you can sample some of Kent’s local produce. Tenterden also has antique shops and specialist shops
making it a perfect base for a short break or holiday.
Royal Tunbridge Wells is an historic spa town with a vibrant and bustling atmosphere and a great place for some retail therapy. The famous
Chalybeate Spring on the Pantiles still flows and during the summer months it is possible to sample the waters. The Pantiles have a selection
of high quality antique shops, boutiques, pubs, bars and cafes.
Sevenoaks is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty amidst woods, valleys and hills of the North Downs. The high street in Sevenoaks is very
picturesque with a mix of shops, restaurants, accommodation and pubs. A short distance away is the unspoilt countryside where deer roam in the deer
park at Knole. Or perhaps visit one of Kents Vineyards or follow the footsteps of Winston Churchill and Henry VIII and enjoy some of the best
walking country in these parts of Kent.
Guests to Tonbridge can enjoy a visit to the 13th century gatehouse, a riverboat ride along the River Medway or a walk along the river bank towards
Haysden Country Park. Tonbridge offers visitors a wide range of sports and leisure facilities not forgetting some lovely guest accommodation.
Maidstone is well known for its hop gardens and orchards. It has a wealth of history, culture and attractions and is situated on the River Medway
between London and Dover. Don’t forget to visit the Archbishops Palace and a collection of horse drawn carriages at Tyrwhitt-Drake Museum.
Walking is popular in Kent and includes the Pilgrim's Way, the North Downs National Trail and the Weald Way. There is also the Eden Valley Walk,
Tunbridge Wells Circular, the Greensand Way, Stour Valley Walk and the Maidstone Millennium Walk.
