The Lake District is one of the UK’s largest National Parks located in Cumbria, North West of England.

The Lake District runs from Caldbeck in the north, Shap in the East, Lindale in the south to Ravenglass in the West. Land types vary ranging from sandy beaches to breathtaking mountains and tranquil lakes. It is home to England’s largest inland open expanse of water (Lake Windermere) and the highest mountain, Scafell Pike.

There are numerous B&B’s, guesthouses, farm houses and luxurious hotels many having fantastic lakeside locations and breath taking views.

You will find lots of traditional country pubs serving mouth watering cuisine, real ales and fine wines.

The Lake District has many lakes, big and small probably the most well known is Lake Windermere. Other popular lakes include Ullswater, Grasmere, Rydal Water, Ennerdale Water, Derwentwater, Crummock Water, Coniston Water, Buttermere, Brothers Water and Bassenthwaite Lake.

The Lake District is an ideal place for either a short break of a long holiday. It can cater for all ages. If its adventure your looking for then why not try cycling, hill walking, horse riding, fishing, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, water skiing or golf.

If you are looking for something more relaxing then why not have a painting holiday. The Lake District has some wonderful scenery. Or take a relaxing boat ride on the many lake cruises.

Cumbria has a range of market towns and lively locations. Grasmere, Ambleside, Coniston & Windermere are popular amongst tourist activity particularly during the summer months. Don’t forget to sample some world famous Kendal Mint Cake whilst in the region.

Outside of the Lake District itself but within easy driving distance are many other interesting attractions and activities, including Cumbria’s West Coast and the towns of Penrith, Carlisle and the Eden Valley.
