Stonelands West Lodge Bed & Breakfast, run by Chic Hutchings for over 18 years, offers the warmest of welcomes to all guests.  The 180 year old lodge house is situated on the B2028 between Turners Hill and Ardingly, just 50 yards from a 600 year old pub, the White Hart Inn and only 1 mile from Wakehurst Place.

This is obviously ideal for guests wanting a good evening meal and the option to collapse in to a comfortable bed.  For more hardy souls, it is a healthy half hour walk across beautiful woods and fields to “The Cat Inn” in West Hoathly – another gem of a pub boasting roaring log fires in the winter months.  The village itself too is glorious, with a 1,000 year old church and the Priest House museum.

The Lodge offers a single room, 1 twin room and 1 double ensuite.  The double is located in a small annexe adjacent to the main house, while in the house itself, a large upstairs bathroom is just a few feet away from each of the bedrooms.  All rooms are furnished with colour TV, tea & coffee making facilities, towels and of course fresh linen and one of the rooms is located on the ground floor and may suit the less mobile however it is not wheelchair friendly.

Chic prides herself on providing a breakfast “fit for a king” – a huge English cooked breakfast with tea, coffee, toast and cereals.  No one should leave hungry!  Other meals can be enjoyed in the comfort of the White Hart Inn next door, just 50 yards away, which offers excellent bar food and more formal restaurant dining.

During the summer months, Stonelands West Lodge and its immediate surroundings offer beautiful views.  The forest lands on all sides are criss-crossed with delightful footpath walks, wild deer abound the real peace and solitude can be found in a multitude of woodland glades – perfect for young children.

It makes an ideal base for exploring mid Sussex and in an Area of  Outstanding natural beauty, the Lodge is close to a number of very pretty Sussex villages, with West Hoathly being closest.  

Gatwick Airport is situated 15 minutes away and Heathrow Airport is approximately 1 hour.  Haywards Heath, Three Bridges and East Grinstead are each about 10 minutes away by car.  There is a local bus service, which passes the door and runs between Haywards Heath and Crawley.  As for rail access, the Gatwick/Haywards Heath “Brighton line” of course, means that trains to London and the south coast are within easy reach as well as fast and frequent.  Brighton itself is now a real mecca for those after a day on the beach, great shopping or a theatre/cinema trip.  A very good local taxi service is available if required.
