Islington House, Bed and Breakfast Wells

Uniquely situated on the edge of the City of Wells (England’s smallest City), Islington House is adjacent to the magnificent Cathedral and The Bishop’s Palace and Gardens. The house has a lovely rural outlook over fields and parkland and is part of Islington Farm the owner’s property, a small holding of two and a half acres.

Just a few minutes walk away passing the moated Bishop’s Palace is the ancient Market Place which leads to the High Street where there is a varied selection of shops, restaurants, inns and eating places. Markets are still held every Wednesday (Farmer’s Market) and Saturday throughout the year. There is a park, bowling green and children’s playground just across the road.

Islington House has two fine guest rooms available for Bed & Breakfast. One room is a twin room with en suite which boasts fine views of St. Andrew’s stream, which runs through the grounds, and the other is a double room with an en-suite that overlooks the garden.

All rooms include comfortable armchairs, tea and coffee-making facilities and flatscreen TV’s with digital freeview.

A Full English breakfast is provided to include home-laid free-range eggs, a selection of cereals, fresh fruit, yogurts and fruit juice. Vegetarian diets are catered for, and additional dietary requirements can be arranged for in advance.

There is a bus and coach station in Wells, the nearest train station is Castle Cary approximately 10miles away with Bristol, Bath and Weston super Mare 20 miles away.

Wells is centrally situated 20 miles from the sea at Weston super Mare and Burnham on sea, and the same distance from historic Georgian Bath and Bristol. Taunton is 30 miles away. Longleat House and Safari Park, Stourhead Gardens, Glastonbury Abbey and Tor, Wookey Hole and Cheddar Caves are all nearby, as well as a number of National Trust properties.
