The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is the only coastal National Park in Britain.
The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is situated in Wales and is one of Britain’s smaller parks and includes the Preselis and the areas round the Daugleddau Estuary and the Carew, Cleddau & Cresswell rivers making this an ideal base for walking and outdoor pursuits.
Pembrokeshire boasts dramatic coastlines, sheltered coves, beautiful sandy beaches, spectacular cliff tops, wooded estuaries and amazing scenery.
In the north of the Pembrokeshire National Park there are the Preseli Hills, the source of the Preseli Blue Stones, once used to create the inner circle of standing stones at Stonehenge.
In the south of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park you will find Carew Castle which is steeped in history and Tidal Mill, the only mill to have been restored in Wales.
Many visitors come to Pembrokeshire for the 186 mile “Pembrokeshire National Trail” which offers breathtaking scenery and covers an area from St Dogmaels in the north, to Amroth in the South. The Pembrokeshire National Trail is suitable for people of all ages but can be quite challenging even for the most experience walker so is advisable to take the trail in small sections if you are not very fit.>
There are several small islands off the Pembrokeshire coast that can be visited by boat. Here you may be lucky enough to spot an array of wildlife including Puffins, grey seals, Peregrine Falcons, Storm Petral, Ganets and a variety of wild and unusual flowers.
There are many places to visit in and around the Pembrokeshire National Park. Tenby has a pretty harbour, several shops and eating establishments and three beaches. At Saundersfoot, the coastal path passes through a series of tunnels from a long-gone narrow gauge railway.
Pembrokeshire is the perfect base for walking, windsurfing, sailing, fishing, pony trekking, swimming and for those that want to take in the Celtic history and enjoy either a short break or annual holiday. There are many coastal towns and villages that have a selection of bed and breakfasts, guest houses, farm houses and hotels to choose from!
