The Isle of Wight is a popular holiday destination and ideal for a short break either midweek or weekend or a longer holiday.

To get to the Isle of Wight you will need to take the hovercraft or ferry. There are frequent transport links to the island. The quickest takes approximately 30 minutes from Lymington in the New Forest to Yarmouth which is operated by Wightlink ferry services. You can also go from Portsmouth to Fishbourne which takes around 45 minutes again using the Wightlink ferry service. Another popular route is from Southampton to East Cowes (takes approximately 1 hour). This service is run by Red Funnel.

Once on the Isle of Wight you will be spoilt by things to do, it’s not just home to Sailing and Festivals. The Isle of Wight has some lovely beaches. The first week of August is a very busy time on the Island due to Cowes week. This weeklong sailing regatta attracts up to 1000 boats with daily races and thousands of spectators. The Isle of Wight is popular with walkers with over 500 miles of footpaths to explore. During the months of May and October there is the Isle of Wight Walking Festival. Cyclists can trial over 200 miles of cycle tracks. The Isle of Wight Cycling Festival takes place in September.
