Shoulsbarrow Farmhouse a 200 year old, five-bedroom farmhouse found on the outskirts of the village of Challacombe, North Devon.

Shoulsbarrow Farmhouse is located up a quarter of a mile track in Exmoor National Park. It is approximately 11 miles from the towns of Barnstaple and South Molton and 10 miles from Lynton and Lynmouth.

This small working farm is owned by Amanda and Gary Taylor who keep only rare and traditional breeds of livestock. They are kept for food, showing, improving the breed and fun.

The accommodation includes two double bedrooms “Kilkenny” and “Tipperary” both of which are comfortably furnished and have en-suite facilities.

Wake up in the morning to the Shoulsbry breakfast which consists of homegrown and local produce which is taken in the former dairy now the dining room. it consists of traditional farmhouse fare – fruit juice and tea or coffee to drink with a first course of a choice of cereals followed by any of the following: sausages, bacon, poached or fried egg, mushrooms, tomato, baked beans and toast with, after or both.

Scambled egg is sometimes available, ditto fish cakes or potato cakes which can be topped with bacon and a poached egg with hollandaise sauce and different variations of the above such as bacon sandwiches. Toast after your cooked breakfast is served with a choice of jams or preserves. There is always some fresh fruit available.

A Shoulsbry Afternoon tea is available by prior arrangement and your hosts can also prepare you a packed lunch with advanced warning.

Shoulsbarrow Farmhouse offers courses for residents and non-residents. All courses are designed bespoke to your requirements and costs may vary.

LOCAL INFORMATION
Popular with walkers this area is excellent for cycling, golfing, fishing, horse riding and shooting. There are two local hunts, Devon and Somerset Staghounds and the Exmoor Foxhounds, should you wish to partake or watch their ‘meets’ can be found online. There is also a Shoot based in the village.

Places to visit include Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway, Dunster Castle, Valley of the Rocks, Watersmeet House, Lynton cinema, Dunkery Beacon, Tarr Steps, Woody Bay Railway Station, Simonsbath Sawmill and Arlington Court to name just a few.
