The Miners Arms, Eyam, Hope Valley Bed and Breakfast

Description

The Miners Arms is a 17th Century Inn & Restaurant, built in 1630 just before the great plague found its way to Eyam.

There are many documented parts of the inns history around the pub, and as you would expect, the inn is also haunted. Reputedly by two young girls who died in a fire on the site before it was built, and by an ex-landlady who was murdered by her husband who is said to roam the corridors at night with her old fashioned dress making a loud rustling noise.

Not always called the Miners Arms as until 1764 it was called the Kings Head. The present name derives from the many meetings the mine owners used to have here, mining lead and fluorspar, and calling themselves the Barmote Court, deciding things such as land rights etc.

Since 1812 the inn has also been used for meetings of the Prosecution of Felons committee, which is still in existence.

Today you will find 7 well presented guest bedrooms all with elegant and classic décor, some having original features. Most of the rooms are on the first floor but there is a ground floor room with one step which may suit the less mobile. All rooms are en-suite and have a television, tea/coffee making facilities and a hairdryer if required.

The inn offers a creative Restaurant dinner menu as well as simpler food during lunchtimes and evenings all prepared by the resident chefs, Rachel Nuttall and Ragab Elnagar. Most of the food is prepared from fresh local ingredients sourced from local suppliers.

The beautiful scenery of the Peak district remains unspoiled and unrivalled by any other county. Its combination of lush green river valleys and moorland with many miles of well-marked footpaths makes this a walkers' paradise. Other amenities in the area include horse riding, gliding and climbing.
