Maddybenny means "sanctified or holy post". The Farmhouse dates from the 1600s, when it was built as a plantation house on lands belonging to the Earl of Antrim. The first Presbyterian Minister, Rev. Gabriel Cornwall, lived here. The Home has been extended and modernised and is situated 2 miles from the seaside resorts of Portstewart and Portrush . This beautiful property has been highly recommended by numerous sources all of whom are listed on their website and has also been featured on several television programmes such as UTV/RTE “Bon Voyage”, “BBC Gourmet Ireland” and “Holiday Ireland”

As well as being a working farm it is a haven to many pet animals and birds. Such as Pee Wee a magnificent peacock with his girlfriend Sweet Pea. Foals Tyler and Fella who love to entertain the guests with their frolics. For all avid birdwatchers there are plenty of guinea foul, banty hens, aylsbury and muscavey ducks wandering around, then nesting in the barns there are fan tail and tumbler pigeons as well as ring necked doves. With the family dog Jess who is a new addition to the family since the sad passing of her predecessor Naoimh. All these great animals are a big hit with adults and children alike.

The Bed and Breakfast has three bedrooms to choose from, which consist of one double with a single in a large room. One with a king and a double bed in one large room, stepping down into a single bedroom. Finally a double bed in one room leading through to another room with two singles. All rooms are decorated to a high standard with en-suite facilities and equipped with TV/video, tea/coffee trays and views looking over the front garden.

The house is comfortably furnished in very fine antiques. There is a Snooker table and a games room, with quiet sitting areas. Cots and high chairs can be supplied upon request. A garden play area for children is located in the spacious grounds, where there is also ample private parking for guests.

Stabling for guest's own horses with full use of cross country and riding facilities are available as is riding for all ages and abilities please visit the website for a breakdown of all the wonderful facilities that the riding school has to offer.

All these wonderful amenities are complimented by the cordon bleu catering; the breakfasts are famous and have achieved the accolade of Galtee “Best Bed and Breakfast in Ireland for 1989, 1992 and 1994. Local Information

The local attractions in the surrounding area leaves you spoilt for choice not only is the scenery some of the most beautiful in Northen Ireland it also boasts plenty of picture perfect beaches.

9miles east of maddybenny lies the famous Giants Causeway, these strange hexagonal boulders that are steeped in myth and legend are a must see for all tourists to the area.

Ballycastle and Rathlin Island lies 20 miles east. This attractive seaside town offers hours of fun on its sandy beach or why not take the journey that Robert the Bruce took to hide in the caves where his famous encounter with the spider took place. For nature lovers Rathlin is a special area of conservation.

Or maybe a trip to carrick a rede rope bridge for all you thrill seekers which lies 15 miles east, the bridge is about 20 yards long, made of rope and planks which spans an 80 ft sheer drop. It is terrifying especially when windy.

And if you wish to sample some of that famous Old Bushmills Whisky then a trip to the oldest distillery (Licensed in 1608) which lies just 7 miles east is another day trip not to be missed. The guided tour takes just 45 minutes with a tasting in the hospitality bar afterwards.

But if you do not wish to travel to far from base then Turbo Tours, Earthquest, Myths and legends and a viewing tower are available at the Dunluce Centre, Waterworld, Barrys amusement arcade and Royal Portrush Golf Course can be found in Portrush less than a mile away.
