Welcome to Green Gables, a characteristic Edwardian house set back from the road - a delightful setting in which to relax and enjoy your visit to the historic city of Oxford.
Built in 1914 for a local merchant, this solid but elegant house has retained the comfortable appearance and atmosphere of that first owner. Indeed, more than one guest has written 'It's like being at home'.
There is ample secluded parking space with a bus stop 20 yards away with buses running every few minutes. Buses to Central London, Heathrow and Gatwick Airports are every 20 minutes, allowing easy access to all the local facilities and surrounding places of interest, including Blenheim Palace, Stratford upon Avon and the Cotswolds. On foot, the city centre can be reached by a fine riverside walk along the Thames.
The rooms are bright, spacious and pleasantly furnished to ensure your stay is a comfortable one. All rooms have TV, tea/coffee making facilities, telephone, en-suite showers and toilets. One room on the ground floor has been adapted for disabled people, with its own ramp and front door.

Green Gables is situated on the Abingdon Road (A4144), half a mile from the ring road and one mile from the city centre.
Oxford is one of the most remarkable cities in Europe, being totally built around its ancient university. For 700 years, it has not been really possible to see where the city ends and the university begins. The major part of the small centre is taken up by the medieval and renaissance buildings with an unparalleled cluster of architecture, and all within an area of 600yds by 600yds. At its heart is the Radcliffe Camera - set in one of the most beautiful squares in the western world.
Green Gables is ideally situated in this historic University City of Oxford and on the edge of the Cotswolds with its many quaint villages and varied attractions.
Woodstock village, with its antique shops, tea-houses, cafes, restaurants and bars is only 15 minutes away. Blenheim Palace and its beautifully landscaped grounds are located alongside Woodstock.
Warwick Castle, Windsor Castle, Stratford-upon-Avon, Burford and Cheltenham are all around 40 minutes away.
In addition, many National Trust properties such as Waddesdon Manor are all within easy reach.
