Woodbridge lies on the banks of the river, across from probably the most important Anglo-Saxon site in the United Kingdom. With the Sutton Hoo Saxon royal burial ship a must see. With 1400 years of recorded history, the town has retained an interesting variety of historical architecture, making it an interesting place just to walk around; there is also the River Deben itself, for boating and riverside walks
Whether your visit is for business or pleasure the aim is to make your stay in Woodbridge as enjoyable as possible. There is spacious car parking to the front and rear of the hotel, with a separate parking space allocated for the disabled room.
The Grove House Hotel is literally on the Suffolk Coastal Cycle Route – a delightful way to explore Suffolk at your own leisure. The route is described as an 88-mile signed circular route around the Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB using quiet roads and well surfaced tracks. We can provide bicycles, if required. A map of the Suffolk Coastal Cycle Route can be obtained online from SusTrans.
The cycle route can be covered in a day by the energetic cyclist leaving you a day to explore the area in and around Woodbridge. If you want to have a more leisurely ride then your hosts can arrange for a night’s stay in a lovely B&B in Leiston which is approximately halfway round the coastal path. This will give you a gentle ride over two days and a day back at the Grove House.
Woodbridge has over one hundred specialist shops and dozens of places to eat and drink. And visitors often comment on the particularly friendly welcome they receive in Woodbridge. It’s a great day out, but don’t just come for the day, come and make a holiday of it!
The Hotel offers 10 bedrooms all providing comfortable accommodation. Grove House also benefits from a downstairs bedroom adapted for the independent wheelchair user. All rooms are warm, individually decorated and comfortably furnished. Each bedroom has colour television, welcome tray, radio alarm, hair dryer and en-suite facilities.
A delicious home cooked breakfast using fresh local produce is served daily in a bright and airy dining room. Your hosts also produce a range of homemade jams and marmalades which you can purchase from reception during your stay. Your hosts will try to accommodate any special dietary requirements please inform when booking. Evening meals and lunches are available upon request.
A comfortable lounge is available for guests to relax in if they wish.

From the North:
When approaching Woodbridge from the north (towards Ipswich) on the A12 do not go into Woodbridge town centre. Stay on the A12 (now dual carriageway) signposted Ipswich. At the next roundabout (identified by Shell petrol stations on either side of the road) go all the way round and back the way you came i.e. towards Lowestoft, Grove House is the large terracotta building on the left, 250 yards after the Shell petrol station.
From the South:
When approaching Woodbridge from the south (towards Lowestoft) on the A12 do not go into Woodbridge town centre. Stay on the A12 signposted for Lowestoft. Grove House is the large terracotta building on the left, 250 yards past the Shell petrol station.
Places to visit include Baylham House and Rare Breeds Farm, Leiston Abbey, Saxted Post Mill, Sutton Hoo Burial Site, Dunwich Museum, Framlingham Castle, Orford Castle, Woodbridge Tide Mill, Snape Maltings and the Suffolk Coast to name a few.
